The tourist attractions of Lake Buyan and Lake Tamblingan, often called the Twin Lakes, are among the most compelling natural destinations in Buleleng Regency, Bali, attracting both domestic and foreign tourists.
“I have enjoyed the landscape of these two lakes twice over the past three years. The scenery remains just as beautiful as ever,” said Naoka Kobayashi, a tourist from Osaka, Japan, visiting Wanagiri Village in Singaraja.
According to Naoka, the natural scenery of the lakes—located in Pancasari Village, Sukasada Sub-district, Buleleng—is just as breathtaking as lakes in Japan. She noted that because the two lakes are situated within protected forests, they remain clean and well-preserved, surrounded by dense greenery.
Naoka is not alone; hundreds of foreign tourists visit every day to enjoy the natural scenery of these twin lakes.
Tourists can admire the natural scenery from several locations at an elevation of approximately 1,000 feet above sea level around Wanagiri, Munduk, or Banjar Village.
From the high vantage point of Wanagiri Village, tourists can enjoy a panoramic view of the two lakes, located about 25 kilometers north of Singaraja.
Along the roadside, local Wanagiri residents provide tables, benches, and tents for tourists to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of the lakes.
Visitors can freely capture all the beauty of Lake Buyan and Lake Tamblingan in photos and videos.
Local villagers hope to reap economic benefits from visiting tourists, such as by opening food stalls and offering photo services with animals—including snakes, bats, and iguanas—against the scenic backdrop of the lake.
“Usually, there are tourists who want to take pictures with the animals, but the numbers are unpredictable,” said Komang Budi, an animal photo service vendor.
Foreign tourists can take pictures with the animals at a rate of 30,000 Rupiah, while domestic tourists pay 20,000 Rupiah.
